Google ha annunciato una serie di iniziative legate all’imminente uscita di Star Wars: Il risveglio della forza, che uscirà nei cinema italiani il prossimo 16 dicembre. Il sito “Risveglia la Forza che c’è in te” permette di scegliere da che parte stare nell’universo immaginario della saga cinematografica, quindi tra “lato chiaro”, quello dei Jedi, e “lato oscuro”, quello dei Sith.
A seconda della scelta, la grafica dei servizi e delle applicazioni di Google come Gmail, Maps e YouTube sarà diversa per qualche settimana, arricchita con disegni e animazioni ispirati a Star Wars. Google sul suo blog ufficiale ha promesso anche altre novità, alcune nascoste, che saranno introdotte man mano che ci si avvicina alla data di uscita del film.
Ed è solo l’inizio: ci saranno altre novità da qui all’uscita del film, tra cui il Millennium Falcon in tutto il suo splendore (virtuale), diversi easter egg nascosti.

"Ricordo di aver visto il mio primo film insieme a mio padre, quando avevo circa quattro anni. Un pomeriggio ha acceso il proiettore e il Betamax (in vero stile anni ’80), e abbiamo guardato Star Wars. E’ stato fantastico, e da allora ho rivisto la trilogia originale almeno una decina di volte.
Il fatto che qui in Google ci siano moltissimi altri fan di Star Wars non è certo una novità. Si vedono regolarmente in giro dei Dart Fener, dei cani travestiti da Yoda, e addirittura qualche assaltatore imperiale che di quando in quando si aggira nei corridoi dei nostri data center (probabilmente in cerca dei famosi droidi). Per questo, quando abbiamo sentito parlare per la prima volta di Episodio VII, abbiamo pensato a come si potesse creare un tributo di Google a queste fantastiche storie: “Non sarebbe carino che qualcosa a tema Star Wars comparisse nella Ricerca? Il Millennium Falcon in Cardboard sarebbe grandioso! E se Google Traduttore potesse capire le lingue galattiche?”… e così via. Man mano che la lista di idee si allungava, aumentava il numero di ingegneri e di specialisti di prodotto appassionati che volevano realizzarle.
Ci siamo messi in contatto con gli amici di Lucasfilm e Disney, e abbiamo lavorato insieme alla creazione di google.com/starwars. È un luogo tutto dedicato ai fan, e creato dai fan. Da oggi potrete scegliere il lato chiaro o il lato oscuro, e vedrete le vostre app preferite come Gmail, Google Maps, YouTube, Chrome e molte altre trasformarsi per riflettere la vostra scelta. Ed è solo l’inizio. Ci saranno altre novità da qui all’uscita del film, tra cui il Millennium Falcon in tutto il suo splendore (virtuale), e degli easter egg nascosti.
